Artefact

I have been working on my model of a chariot in the Ancient Olympics. I am proud of getting my chariot to finally stand up straight because the wheels were wonky and wobbly. I worked with Ezra to fix the wheels up by hot gluing the wheels onto the side of the chariot. The learning muscle I used to get out of the learning pit was revising muscle. I did this by going back to my learning and made changes. I am learning my managing distraction muscle so that I can concentrate on my learning. Something that was challenging was finishing my pamphlet and making the chariot. I really enjoyed looking at my finished project. Next time I could make the chariot  and the horse bigger and then it would look like a real horse and chariot.

I found out my info for  my report by researching it on my device and in books and also using the research i know about these fierce times. Here is a look at my report:

The Ancient Olympics

Introduction
Have you ever heard of the Ancient Olympics? If you haven’t this Quality Report will help you learn more about Ancient Olympics . The Ancient Olympics is a dangerous lot of events that are mostly for a gift for the Gods. The Ancient Olympics was for training Greek Men for war. I hope you learn a lot of information about the Ancient Olympics from this report.

How the Olympics Began?

It started 2,700 years ago in 776 BC, in the Southwest, in Olympia, Greece. The Ancient Olympics was a Religious Festival in the honor of Zeus, the leader of the Gods and the God of the Blue sky. The Ancient Olympics was dangerous. Some people were killed. Greek Men were very, very DANGEROUS in these days.

The Modern Olympics was encouraged by the Ancient Olympics  (began in 1896). The Greeks thought that Zeus would like dead cows as a sacrifice (A Gift) just for the god, Zeus.

The Sports

The Ancient Olympic Games started off with short foot races in a suit of shining armor. This running track could fit twenty men running side by side. It was 700 feet long and straight. Those foot races were to keep Greek men fit for the intensity of war. Eventually more events were added they were:vicious wrestling, tiring running, the long jump, disc throwing, and throwing the javelin.
You had to be a strong, trained men, speak greek and be free men to compete the Ancient Olympic Games. Women couldn’t sneak in or watch or they were punished.

The Pankration (The Nastiest Event)

The Nastiest Event was all-in wrestling and boxing (The Pankration). Men couldn’t bite or eye gauge but they could do other things like kill their opponent. Some people disobeyed the laws and pulled out people’s eyes and bit them. If men bribed their opponent to let them win they were punished ,their punishment was to pay for  a bronze statue of Zeus.It was better than getting your head chopped off.

What did the Greeks wear?

In the  races men wore a suit of armor. Men ran very slow because of this problem. So they ran in togas and loincloths . But the togas were as low as the ground so they tripped and fell.

One day Akanthos ripped off there toga and loincloth and ran free in the nude. Akanthos was  an athlete in the Ancient Olympics. He was so fast he won the long race with the help of being in the nude. This helped the women stay away from the DANGEROUS Ancient Olympics.

The Festival For Women

Women couldn’t compete in the Ancient Olympic Games because Ancient Olympics was about war .  But there is a Girl-like Festival for Women. It starts every 4 years in August. The Festival is called Heraia in the honor of Hera, wife of Zeus.

Hera was Zeus’s beautiful, Helpful wife and sister. They were raised by Titans Oceanus and Tethys. She was the Goddess of Marriage and Childbirth. Hera has a deep interest in saving Married Women . Her Sacred Animals were the cow and peacock. She favoured these creatures from the city of Argos. Zeus wanted to marry Hera. Zeus initially courted Hera, but after many failed attempts Zeus resorted to trick her into marrying him.

Greek Gods!!!

Here is some of the Greek Gods: Tyche the Goddess of Happy, Grateful Good Luck and Fortunes, Hecate the Goddess of spooky Ghosts, Iris the Goddess of the wonderful Rainbow, Nemesis the Goddess of Cruel Revenge,  Janus the God of New/Old Doorways, and Nike the God of  Joyful Victory. There are more Gods too.  The Greeks believed in the Gods. The Athletes Gave the Gods Gifts , because they thought the Gods would be so grateful for the gift they would in return they would make the Athletes win!

Conclusion
I hope this report has lifted your interest in the Ancient Olympics. The Ancient Olympics was important because the Greek men were fit and ready for war. If you were in the Ancient times, do you think you would survive the Ancient Olympics?
